Vakil is a senior executive with extensive experience as a CIO and operations leader in both the private and public sectors. He has worked in numerous mature enterprisesand small start-ups as well. Most recently Vakilserved as the CIO for the Human Services Agency of the City and County of San Francisco supporting multiple lines of business. He developed and, importantly, executed Information Technology strategic plans. As a subset of this plan, Vakil architected and implemented a new governance structure. Additionally he designed and brought to life a program that improved efficiency, transforming the organization from paper case folders to a service center using electronic documents.
Vakil has in-depth experience in the private sector, as well, having fulfilled multiple executive roles in a variety of telecom and call center businesses. A few of his notable assignments are;the Vice President, Management Information Systems, for Advantage Long Distance; the Vice President, Networks, for Metromedia Long Distance; and Chief Operating Officer of Advanced Database Marketing.
Vakil has been a consultant to the telecom industry, to health insurance providers, and to transportation planners.
Vakil has presented at the University of San Francisco and the Housing and Urban Development annual conference. He is currently providing consulting services related to food security issues that will result in improved partnerships between the public sector and non-profit organizations.
Vakil obtained both his Undergraduate and Mastersdegrees from the University of Pennsylvania. |
